I've recently started appearing on some podcasts!

Care to put a voice to the comments?

Maybe hear what Christopher has to say?

Just want to mock me for talking?

First, I appeared on Episode 4 of Halforum's Official Podcast!

This episode was a bit of a mish-mash, and was mostly a shoot-the-shit kinda format.

Also!

At 6pm (pacific time) TONIGHT! (8/01/2009) I will be on GustoCast! If you miss out on it, don't fret! You can listen in to the recorded show!

Horrible, BONE-CHILLING NEWS!!

In an effort to show just how lazy I am, I just copied this from my myspace blog.

But believe me, that doesn't make it any less true.

So here ya go:

---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------

I think I've lost my desire to draw anything right now...

I don't know.

I still draw, every day...

But I'm not happy with like, ANY of the stuff I come up with.

In the past week I've probably scrapped 4 drawings halfway through finishing them, just because I didn't like the way it was looking.

I think I've hit a wall.

This is really the first time that this has happened to me THIS bad.

I've had it happen where after a day or two, I'm back in the swing of things and getting out stuff I like and everything... but this has been going on for a while.

I don't know why I'm making this blog though, it really seems like I'm making excuses or something. As if the work I've been putting up is only sub-par and I'm just telling you guys "HAH! GOTCHA! I WASN'T EVEN TRYING ANYWAYS.. I COULD DO BETTER IF I REALLY WANTED TO!"

But trust me, that's not the case.

I'm just trying to figure it out I guess.

I really don't know how to handle this, seeing as how it's never happened to me before, in all the (probably) 15 years I've been drawing.

I'll take the easy way out and just blame this one on the economy.

Yea. That's it.

Have you guys seen the economy lately?? Why would ANYONE want to draw at a time like this!?

...

But seriously.

If you're actually someone that checks my stuff semi-often, I'm sorry if it has seemed a bit uneventful around here.

I'm just trying to get the fire started under my... pencil.

...So that I can draw more pictures.

..With fire

...What..?

Love,
Christopher

p.s. - Don't worry, I'm not even sure what I'm talking about half the time.

Thank you, 2008.

2008 was good to me.

I hope it was as good to you all as well.

I know there isn't any reason to really be doing this... but do we really need a reason to say "Thanks"?

I just want to thank a few of you that helped me grow as an artist this year.

In no particular order:

:iconsquare-head:- Dudee, some of your stuff just blows my mind! Your attention to the detail of every little line and design is amazing. I'm pretty sure that every time I see something new from you, I go right to the ol' drawing board (...seriously, the drawing board) and feel the urge to just create, create, CREATE!!
So I think it's safe to say that you pushed my art production ten-fold in the year 2008.
Thanks for the inspiration! :highfive: Hope 2009 is a great year for you, I look forward to seeing all your new art and figurine paintings!

:iconsweetsville:- Oh my goodness where to start! O_O
When I first stumbled upon your stuff (I think from a link off ol' square-head's page up there! Thanks for that too bro!) I remember looking at your ink drawings.. At the time, ink was all I worked in. Nothing else. And you made me think "Well jeeze, I gotta work harder if I want my stuff to look this good!" So I stepped out of my comfort zone and started drawing more OC's.
Then I saw your colored pieces. Jaw --> Floor.
I started practicing color because I wanted my stuff to look as awesome as yours! I'm still trying to get there heh, but I think it's safe to say that without your fun collaboration drawings (The mini-god's, the beach party) I would never have stepped into the realm of color!
Thanks for the extra push that I needed ;)
Hope 2009 is a fantastic year for you and your art!

:iconglottis78:- Sir, if it had not been for you I most likely wouldn't have started back up on DeviantArt! I remember seeing your stuff on the halfpixel forum as you were in preparations for your then-in-the-works webcomic.. You being such the funny and level-headed guy you are, (or appeared to be on the forums :P) I knew your strip would guarantee to be a good one. And look now! You're already over 60 strips! I don't think I would even be here on DA if it weren't for your delightful comic! (which by the way if you guys didn't know, can be found [link] <- RIGHT THERE!!)
Thanks for bringing me to this awesome community, and for the entertainment from your comic :D Hope 2009 is a great year for you AND Finn-strip!

:iconmightymangler:- Ahh the Mangler.. I hope you read this sir, for your comic is truly one of my favorites! While I may be a huge fan of dirty and crude humor (i.e. Kevin Smith) I also am a huge fan of family friendly material! There's definitely something to be said when a strip can be hilarious, family-friendly, heart-felt, and SO many other emotions on different days, and not skip a beat. And by the way, the strip about little miss mangler asking "what daddies are for" ..Well that was just downright heartwarming and I won't be ashamed to admit I let out an awful big "AWWWWWWwwwwwww!" upon reading :)
Mr. Mangler, I would just like to say thank you. Thank you for the amazing comic, and inspiring a (Hopefully!) soon-to-be web comic creator (Me!)

Keep up the fantastic comic, and I hope you and your family have an amazing 2009!

-----========-----

I know there are so many more people that deserve to be noticed.. though it's only a journal about 6 people will see  so don't feel too bad about not getting the full attention you all definitely deserve..
I just want to say thanks to you all.
Everyone who visits my page, or everyone who's page I visit, and every drawing or photo you guys put up.
With every one, I get a little inspiration.
So thank you.

Happy New Year friends. Let's make 2009 a great one.

Hello Deviantart.

Christopher here, and it would appear that the year has almost come to an end.

I know for me personally, with all things considered, it was a good year. It may have had it's low points (my best friend leaving for a few years..), and it definitely had it's high points (flying to Seattle with my friends for a week.)

But you guys don't come here to hear about my real life, I know I don't come here to tell you all about it ;)

So how was 2008 as far as my art goes?

Amazing.

2008 was definitely the year that my art has improved the most. It certainly isn't anywhere near the best, but I am content with how my art looks. For now :P

The reason that my art has improved so much, and I say this with 100% confidence, is thanks to DeviantArt. And not necessarily DeviantArt as much as you guys. All of you that stop by and look at my drawings.

Everyone who has stopped through in the past year, I say this to you:

Thank you.

Thank you for making 2008 the best year I've ever had drawing.

I made a leap to starting to draw digitally, and even got to the point of attempting to color my work. Two things I had never tried before. I am still learning (and believe me, I am nowhere close to finished learning!) and even though you may not know it, I am learning a lot from you all as well.

I don't want to go into all that just yet though.. Maybe on New Year's I will make a post thanking you all personally :)

I didn't mean for this to become a big rant, it wasn't even entertaining! So I just want to say this once more:

Thank you, friends.

Love, Christopher

Hello there artists, friends, and enemies (because I know you're watching this, Colonel Catastrophe! ...)

Hopefully you are all doing well.

Today, I am all business. If you'd like to, simply imagine me in a three-piece suit, seated behind a huge desk made out of some fancy wood. Maybe made out of the finest Italian Spruce. Go ahead and slap a monocle on one of my eyes, why not.

...Err.

So, I was recently going through my old notebooks and art folders. I found some good memory joggers and some terrible nightmarish creations I would care to forget!

But I'm not just here to tell you about them.

I have a sort of.. challenge?

We all have terrible, terrible work from our past. Unless you're crazy and throw it all away.

I am willing to let you all bask upon the awesome awesome terribleness that is my old work.

BUT! (And believe me friends, it is a rather large "but") The challenge you ask?

Simply put up a piece of work from your past!

Easy as that! Now I don't want to see something like from when you first got your neat-o tablet or anything like that. I mean long ago, from the time of printer paper and colored crayons or markers!

And just why would you put it up for everyone to see?

Well, because it's fun, of course!

Annnd, because I will be putting up the most humiliating drawings I have from my childhood.

Included:

Dragon Ball Z Fan comic...
Hiro My attempt at an original manga...
Middle/High School Notebooks! Ton's of sketches on binder paper!

So come on, why not join me in having a laugh at.. me!

To entice you more, let me add this. That Dragon Ball Z comic? Ya, I was under the impression that the bigger the hair, the more powerful they were. So... yea.

Even if no one else does this, I'll still be putting it up eventually, just because I like laughing at myself :D

Thanks friends,
Christopher
